The tip in ETHERGRAF® "scratches" the paper microscopically, oxidizing it and leaving a light but indelible stroke. The common paper, with its porosity, untreated cellulose paper (made from plant fibers joined through a process called "felting"), is in fact a material that reacts perfectly to the passage of the Ethergraf metal tip.
The presence of adhesives, mineral fillers, dyes, or additives in the paper compromises its natural oxidation capacity, resulting in not allowing (or only partially) oxidation to the tip passage in ETHERGRAF®.
