ALESSANDRO MENDINI
Alessandro Mendini was born in Milan in 1931.
He directed Casabella Modo and Domus, with a special interest in radical and neo-modern design. He collaborates with Studio Alchimia and with various industries for the setting of their image and design problems.
He creates objects, furniture, environments and installations.
His work is also oriented towards painting and sculpture with large decorative works.
He is an honorary member of the Bezazel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. He has been awarded the Compasso d'Oro for design, the honor of the Architectural League of New York and is “Chevalier des Artes et Lettres” in France.
His works can be found in various museums and collections. Recently he has designed the Alessi house with his brother Francesco, a tower in Hiroshima and the Groningen museum in the Netherlands.
He began his collaboration with Venini in 1987 and designs lamps and objects.
